Details
Todoist receives generally positive feedback for its clean UI, cross-platform sync, and effectiveness in personal task management and organization, with many long-term users praising its reliability for daily productivity. However, it faces significant criticism over persistent sync problems, missing native Apple Calendar integration, and a complex interface that overwhelms simple users. Support responsiveness and recent UI changes also draw complaints, creating a polarized reception between power users and those seeking simplicity.
What users love
Great visuals and intuitive UI for task tracking
Excellent cross-device sync and accessibility
Highly effective for organizing school, work, and daily reminders
Valuable for users with memory or executive function challenges
Strong free tier with useful premium features
Where it falls short
Frequent sync failures and data loss between devices
No native Apple Calendar integration, forcing Google/Outlook use
Overly complex for basic to-do needs with confusing features
Unresponsive customer support and lost access issues
Privacy concerns, missing widgets, and poor team collaboration tools
Sync delays and data overrides between mobile and desktop
Build automatic conflict resolution with real-time bidirectional sync and version history
Target → Power users managing tasks across multiple devices who switch from competitors like Notion or TickTick
Lack of Apple Calendar integration and privacy worries
Add direct iOS Calendar two-way sync with local-only processing and opt-out data controls
Target → Apple ecosystem users avoiding Google/Microsoft who currently use Reminders or Fantastical
Complicated interface and missing team mention visibility
Create a streamlined simple mode plus visible @mention inbox with filters for collaborative workflows
Target → Teams and managers frustrated with Todoist's solo focus who might switch to Asana or Monday

Great UI | Visuals But🙏🏼
App has great visuals, & does a whole lot. Customer is pretty good. It’s great for just about anything. My gripe is we can’t see reoccurring reminders on iOS. And for productivity I think this is highly important not to mention when a reminder has passed the due time it stays in red even when snoozed it. No info regarding this snooze in the activity log. When your busy & have snoozed a reminder in a rush or whatever scenario you should be able to go back into the reminder & see when

Long time android user switched to iOS
Still great on either platform. I’ve been using for at least 7 years I think.

🩷😇😋THE BEST APP TO HELP ORGANIZE SCHOOL!!😋😇🩷
I’ve used this app for maybe a week and it’s the best planner and organizer for schoolwork. The best thing is probably that you can use it not just for school stuff but also for everyday life! Overall best app ever!

Complaints
Delays in updating the data and data loss
You change it on iPhone app, it can’t sync, overrides by desktop version, you lose your updated data. Ongoing problem for years.

Trash would be putting it politely
Massive waste if time. Another SaaS product that needs to die huge what AI can do. Tried it for the Ramble feature and nobody in product was smart enough to allow a text input?

Hmmmm
Wow, I must be a complete Moron, because I find this app to be very confusing! Deep Work? Weekly Reviews? 81 items to read in Deep Work alone! What’s up with all that? I just want a nice easy, clean “To do list” lol…..this app is WAY to complicated for imbeciles like me I guess.lol I’m sticking with Apple Notes & Reminders.

Doesn’t connect to apple calender
Can’t use it for anything, doesn’t even connect to my calender? Built for iOS? Useless app.
